TWO UNUSUAL NATIVE AMERICAN GROOVED AXES The first axe of brown hardstone, having a shallow groove and a rounded poll over a highly polished bit (old losses to poll), 9-1/4 in.; the second axe is possibly a pre-form of quartzite in that there are elements that could be considered a formative groove, poll and bit, 6-3/4 in.
